August 2023 Newsletter

Happy September Friends! I write this as I participate in the annual Arizona REALTOR® Caucus. It is so nice to know that as REALTORS® we have a seat at the table and have a voice when it comes to creating policy that helps protect private property rights. Our clients and our communities benefit from the work the REALTOR® Party does and I am proud to support it. We have a great, fun way for you to support! Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming Chili Cook Off coming in October.

The election for the upcoming board of directors is coming up on September 21st at our Membership Luncheon. These are the people that will be representing you and your organization. It is important to have a voice and cast a vote. I hope to see you there. If you are looking for a way to get involved, I would love to talk to you about our committees. I appreciate all of your support and look forward to seeing you at our next event!

New Flood Hazard Maps for Munds Park

The Coconino County Flood Control District (CCFCD) has created an updated, digital flood hazard maps for the Munds Park area in Coconino County and are available for public review and comment. The preliminary flood maps, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), show the extent to which areas recently re-mapped in the Munds Park area are at risk for flooding. These updated preliminary maps replace the current flood maps that were based on studies 30+ years old.

To help better inform the different stakeholder organizations, CCFCD is holding a virtual stakeholder meeting September 5, 1:30-2:30. Topics will include the mapping project, where map changes are occurring, their potential effects on building and flood insurance requirements, and resources. No registration is required. Simply click on the following link or call in and listen:

An in-person flood risk open house for the public has been scheduled for September 18, 5:30-7:30 pm. This allows Munds Park residents and business owners to learn more about the updated flood maps and learn how properties may be affected. Steps will be shared which they can take to protect their investment. For those unable to attend in person, a project overview will be provided in a virtual open house to be held online September 13, 6:30-8:00. More details can be found at www.coconino.az.gov/3143/Munds-Park-Flood-Risk-Open-House-Date.
